Looking for Kid-Friendly Farms in the Bay Area? Here Are Some of Your Best Options!

If you’re searching for fun things to do in Half Moon Bay or the rest of the Bay Area, you’ll have a wide range of options to choose from. However, if you have kids, one of your best choices is to take them to visit kid-friendly farms. This can be a fun activity for children since it gives them the opportunity to play outdoors under the sun as they make friends with other kids. It also allows them to get up close and personal with farm animals, learn about how to take care of them, and enhance their sense of compassion and wonder. The good news is that many farms nowadays are designed to accommodate kids, and offer lots of fun attractions that children will surely love. Here are some of the kid-friendly farms that you can explore in the Bay Area:

Lemos Farm

One of the best things about Lemos Farm is that we have numerous farm attractions in Half Moon Bay for kids to choose from. They can spend some time in our petting zoo since they'll get to interact with our baby goats, sheep, pigs, and bunnies and even have the chance to feed them - we will provide the food for them (a food cup is $1, but the fun is priceless)! They can also go on pony rides, hay rides, and train rides, learn the basics of excavating through our child-sized hydraulic digging machine, or test their driving skills in our car barn (which has its own circuit course!).

Little Farm in Tilden Park

A favorite among East Bay locals, the Little Farm in Tilden Park is a must-visit, especially if you have little kids who are too young for the zoo or if you're looking for farm attractions that can be explored in just a short while. The Little Farm is a working farm, which means that you and your kids can feed bunnies, chickens, pigs, and cows while observing how farms operate on a daily basis. Grab a few stalks of celery and get ready to feed friendly farm animals, and take a few minutes to explore the playground near the parking lot before or after your tour. There is no food available on site, so remember to bring your own snacks or lunch.

Hidden Villa Farm

If you're in the South Bay, make sure to visit Hidden Villa Farm in Los Altos Hills! The farm has hosted classes and tours over the past 50 years to teach children about farming and gardening and give them an idea of where food comes from. Currently, they have chickens, sheep, goats, and pigs that you and your kids can view, although feeding and touching them isn't allowed. There are also hiking trails that you can explore; one trail is shorter and less steep, while the other will challenge your skills and is ideal for older kids and teens.
