Take a fun and relaxing hayride around Lemos Farm, visiting the parts of the ranch that are not accessible on foot! The hayride at Lemos Farm is a scenic 10-minute ride on the largest hay truck we know of on the California coast. Most people probably think of the hayride as an autumn activity, but ours runs all year round, so you can come and enjoy it at any time!
All About Hayrides
When hayrides first started, they were nothing more than a chance to rest in the middle of a hard workday. During haying season on a working farm, farmhands and children would ride on the hay bales as the wagon rolled back to the barn to be unloaded. At that time, the riders sat 15 or 20 feet up in the air on top of the bales of hay! Sometime in the 19th century, farmers started offering hayrides to tourists to make extra money, and the hayride as we know it was born. Ever since that time, hayrides have been a popular way to relax and have fun with the family – although no one rides 15-feet up anymore!
